AI Visibility

Also called: AI search visibility, AI brand visibility

AI Visibility is the measurable presence of a brand inside AI-generated answers — how often, and how prominently, engines like ChatGPT, Perplexity and Google AI Overviews cite or mention it across a defined set of tracked prompts.

AI Visibility is to AI search what rankings are to classic SEO: the outcome metric. It is measured per prompt, per engine, over time — a brand is "visible" on a prompt if the engine names it in the answer, and share-of-voice compares that presence against named competitors.

Because AI citations rotate — the median lasts roughly 18 days in our tracking — visibility is a survival metric, not a one-time score. The useful number is "actively cited in the last 7 days", not a lifetime count.

How it compares

AI Visibility is the outcome; an AI visibility audit is the diagnostic that scores a site's structural readiness to earn it.

In context

A fintech tracks AI Visibility across 30 prompts on five engines weekly. In month one it is cited on 2 of 30; after a GEO programme, by month six it is cited on 11 of 30 and holds first-cited position on its core MiCA-licensing prompt in Perplexity.
